Job Description

POWERGRID, a 'Maharatna' Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Power, Govt. of India is engaged in power transmission business with the mandate for planning, co-ordination, supervision and control over complete Inter-State Transmission System.

POWERGRID operates around 1,77,790 ckm Transmission Lines along with 278 Sub-Stations (as on 31st July 2024) and wheels about 50% of total power generated in the country through its transmission networks. POWERGRID also owns & operates around approximately 1,00,000 kms of telecom network, with points of presence in approx. 3000 and intra-city network in 500 cities across India.

POWERGRID with its strong in-house expertise in various facets of the Transmission, Sub-Transmission, Distribution and Telecom sectors also offers consultancy services at National and International levels. POWERGRID has been making profit since inception, having Gross turnover of Rs. 45,815.37 Crores and Profit After Tax of Rs. 15,474.61 Crores (FY: 2023-24).

To take the growth curve to further heights, POWERGRID is looking for Bright, Committed and Diligent LAW GRADUATES to join its fold as OFFICER TRAINEE (LAW).

Educational Qualifications

Full-time Three years LLB or Five years integrated Law/LLB course with not less than 60% marks or equivalent CGPA as per the formula provided by the Institute/ University.

How to Apply:

  • Candidates must apply online through the POWERGRID website: https://www.powergrid.in/
  • The application process will begin on 7th November 2024.
  • Candidates must have already registered and appeared for CLAT 2025.
  • The application fee is Rs. 500/-. SC/ST/PwBD candidates are exempted from paying the fee.
  • Candidates must upload a scanned copy of their CLAT 2025 admit card/hall ticket, along with other required documents.

Important Conditions

  • The candidate must be an Indian national.
  • The candidate must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Candidates working in government or PSU organizations are required to apply through proper channels and provide a “No Objection Certificate” from their current employer.
  • Candidates must be medically fit as per POWERGRID's standards.
  • Candidates must meet all eligibility criteria and other norms mentioned in the advertisement.
  • The selection process will consist of CLAT-2025, Document Verification, Behavioral Assessment, Group Discussion, Personal Interview & Pre-Employment Medical Examination.
  • The minimum qualifying marks in CLAT-2025 will be as per the qualifying marks set by CLAT authorities. In the absence of any qualifying marks set by CLAT, the minimum qualifying marks will be 40% for unreserved/EWS candidates and 30% for reserved candidates.
  • Short-listing of eligible candidates for GD and Interview will be based on their actual marks in CLAT 2025. GD will not have any qualifying marks.
  • The interview will have qualifying marks for different categories as mentioned below:
    • Unreserved/EWS: 40%
    • Reserved Vacancy: 30%
  • For calculation of the final score, 85% weightage will be given to CLAT 2025 marks, 3% to Group Discussion and 12% to Personal Interview.
  • Candidates who qualify in the Personal Interview will only be adjudged suitable for empanelment.
  • Candidates will be shortlisted category-wise for empanelment, in proportion to the number of vacancies in the respective category.
  • The offer of appointment will be issued to the suitable candidates in the order of category wise merit and based on the requirement.
  • The appointment of selected candidates will be subject to their being found medically fit in the Pre-Employment Medical Examination to be conducted as per POWERGRID's Norms and Standards of Medical Fitness.
  • Candidates must ensure that they meet POWERGRID's health standards before applying.
  • Candidates have the option for appearing in Group Discussion / Personal Interview in Hindi or English.
  • Only CLAT 2025 examination (for admission in Post Graduation) is prerequisite and valid for this recruitment process.
  • Candidates are required to upload legible copies of the following documents while submitting online application:
    • Recent passport size color photograph (in white background)
    • Signature (in Blue/ Black Ink)
    • Date of Birth Proof: Matric / Birth Certificate (wherein DOB is mentioned)
    • Qualification Certificate (Degree) along with Mark Sheets of all years / semesters along with Proof of norms adopted by the Technical Board / Institute to convert CGPA / OGPA / DGPA into percentage (if applicable) (all Qualification Certificate & Mark Sheets are required to be scanned in one pdf)
    • Candidates working in Govt. / PSU are required to apply through the proper channel and need to upload “No-Objection Certificate” from the present employer/Undertaking. (Refer to Sl. No 12 of General Information and Instructions)
    • Caste Certificate/EWS Certificate in the prescribed Govt. of India format issued by Competent Authority (if applicable)
    • PwBD Certificate in the prescribed Govt. of India format issued by Competent Authority (if applicable)
    • In case of requirement of scribe for PwBD/ PwD candidates, Certificate in prescribed format issued by Competent Authority as per Govt. of India guidelines regarding physical limitation by the candidate to write.
    • Ex-Serviceman Discharge Certificate, Undertaking and Proforma of Certificate for Employed Officials in case of Ex-Servicemen in the prescribed format (if applicable)
    • Certificate of Fitness issued by the Demobilization Board of the Defense Service in case of Disabled Ex-Servicemen in the prescribed format (if applicable)
    • Certificate issued to dependents Defence Services Personnel killed or severely disabled in action in case of Dependents of Ex-Servicemen in the prescribed format (if applicable)
    • Domicile cum Age relaxation certificates for Candidates from Riots Victim in the prescribed Govt. of India format issued by Competent Authority (if applicable)
  • Candidates are not required to forward the hard copies of applications to POWERGRID.
  • Candidates belonging to reserved category viz. SC/ST/PwBD are also required to upload their category certificate at the time of online application and later at the time of Document Verification (if called for) in order to avail concession in fee and in service agreement bond amount.

Mode of Selection

  • Candidates will be shortlisted based on their performance in CLAT 2025.
  • Shortlisted candidates will then be invited for a Group Discussion and Personal Interview.
  • The final selection will be based on the candidate's performance in CLAT 2025, Group Discussion, and Personal Interview.
