Job Description

POWERGRID, a 'Maharatna' Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Power, Govt. of India is engaged in power transmission business with the mandate for planning, co-ordination, supervision and control over complete Inter-State Transmission System.

POWERGRID operates around 1,77,790 ckm Transmission Lines along with 278 Sub-Stations (as on 31st July 2024) and wheels about 50% of total power generated in the country through its transmission networks. POWERGRID also owns & operates around approximately 1,00,000 kms of telecom network, with points of presence in approx. 3000 and intra-city network in 500 cities across India.

POWERGRID with its strong in-house expertise in various facets of the Transmission, Sub-Transmission, Distribution and Telecom sectors also offers consultancy services at National and International levels. POWERGRID has been making profit since inception, having Gross turnover of Rs. 45,815.37 Crores and Profit After Tax of Rs. 15,474.61 Crores (FY: 2023-24).

How to Apply

Candidates have to register themselves and appear for CLAT 2025 (for admission in post graduation). Online Registration for CLAT 2025 shall close on 15th October 2024. For details on CLAT 2025, please visit CLAT 2025 (consortiumofnlus.ac.in).

Application window for POWERGRID shall open tentatively from 7th November 2024 to 27th November 2024. Candidates have to register themselves online at POWERGRID website with details of their CLAT 2025 Application No., CLAT Roll Number and other required information, which will be made available at CAREER>Job Opportunities section of www.powergrid.in.

Candidates will be required to retain their CLAT 2025 Admit card/Hall Ticket for verification at the time of GD/ Interview and Joining in POWERGRID.

Interested and eligible candidates should apply only through On-line Registration System of POWERGRID. No other means / mode of application shall be accepted.

Important Conditions

  • Only Indian Nationals of age 18 years or above are eligible to apply for POWERGRID.
  • The candidature of the candidate at all stages of the selection process shall be provisional in nature.
  • Mere submission of application to POWERGRID does not guarantee the adequacy of candidature for being considered for further selection process.
  • Before applying, the candidate should ensure that she / he fulfills the eligibility criteria and other norms mentioned in this advertisement. Candidates not meeting the specified criteria shall not be considered for selection.
  • Applications in which the essential qualification / age cannot be fully ascertained will be liable for rejection. Accordingly, it is the responsibility of candidate to satisfy that he / she meets the eligibility criteria (as mentioned in this advertisement) fully before applying, to properly fill the application and provide necessary documents asked for. The online application form will not be checking the eligibility.
  • Essential qualification should be recognized in India and from a recognized Institution or University.
  • Date of issuance of final mark sheet shall be taken as the date of acquiring qualification.
  • Wherever CGPA/OGPA/DGPA or Letter Grade in a degree / diploma is awarded, its equivalent percentage of marks must be indicated in the application form as per norms adopted by University / Institute.
  • Percentage of marks obtained by the candidate in the bachelor's degree shall be calculated based on the practice followed by the university/institution from where the candidate has obtained the degree. In case the candidates are awarded grades/CGPA instead of marks, the conversion of grades/CGPA to percentage of marks shall be based on the procedure certified by the university/ institution from where they have obtained the bachelor's degree.
  • In case the university/ institution does not have any scheme for converting CGPA into equivalent marks, the equivalence would be established by dividing the candidate's CGPA by the maximum possible CGPA and multiplying the result with 100.
  • Marks in Essential Qualification will not be rounded off for deciding eligibility of any candidate.
  • Management reserves the right to cancel / restrict /enlarge / modify / alter the recruitment/ selection process, if the need so arises, without issuing any further notice or assigning any reason thereafter.
  • Candidates working in Govt. / PSU are required to produce "No Objection Certificate” at the time of Interview. In case NOC is not provided by the respective organization, the candidate is required to upload an undertaking stating that if selected for appointment in POWERGRID on terms acceptable to him/her:
    • he/she will be agreeable to forego the benefits of carry forward of leave, gratuity etc.; and
    • he/she will be able to produce a 'No Objection Certificate' and secure due release from his/her present organization within the stipulated notice period.
  • Candidates claiming reservation under OBC (NCL) should belong to the category as on last date of online submission of application and must possess valid OBC (NCL) Certificate (as described at Sl No. 5(b) of Page 3) as on the closing date of submission of online application to POWERGRID.
  • All computations of Age and Qualification etc., shall be as on closing date of online application. Date of issuance of final mark sheet shall be taken as the date of acquiring qualification.
  • Candidates are required to fill in their bank details such as bank A/C No, Bank's name Branch Name, IFSC code etc. in the online application form to enable to process TA payment online, if applicable.
  • Management reserves the right to raise or lower the qualifying standards in any stage of the selection process depending on availability of sufficient number of candidates.
  • By submitting application, candidate gives consent that Candidate data may be shared with third party for the conduct of CBT and evaluation purpose with adequate security.

Mode of Selection

The selection process shall consist of CLAT – 2025 (for admission to post graduation) of eligible candidates, Document Verification, Behavioral Assessment, Group Discussion, Personal Interview & Pre-Employment Medical Examination.

The minimum marks required in CLAT-2025 (for admission to post graduation) shall be as per the Qualifying Marks set by CLAT Authorities. In absence of any Qualifying Marks set by CLAT, the following shall be treated as the Minimum Qualifying Marks in CLAT for consideration of candidates for next stages of selection process in POWERGRID:

  • Unreserved / EWS Vacancy: 40%
  • Reserved Vacancy: 30%

Qualified candidates shall be short-listed category-wise in the prescribed ratio for Group Discussion & Personal Interview based on their actual marks in CLAT 2025 (for admission in post-graduation).

GD will not have any qualifying marks.

Interview will have qualifying marks for different categories as mentioned below.

For calculation of final score of a candidate for empanelment, the weightages assigned to CLAT 2025 marks, Group Discussion and Interview shall be as indicated below:

Candidates who qualify in the Personal Interview will only be adjudged suitable for empanelment. Therefore, it is again reiterated that candidates will have to qualify in CLAT 2025 and in Personal Interview separately in order to be considered eligible for empanelment. Candidates who will qualify as per qualifying criteria shall be shortlisted category-wise for empanelment, in proportion to the number of vacancies in the respective category.

The Offer of Appointment shall be issued to the suitable candidates in the order of category wise merit and based on the requirement. Appointment of selected candidates will be subject to their being found medically fit in the Pre-Employment Medical Examination to be conducted as per POWERGRID Norms and Standards of Medical Fitness.

Please note that only CLAT 2025 examination (for admission in Post Graduation) is pre-requisite and valid for this recruitment process. CLAT result of 2024 or prior is not valid.
