- Scientist (S2501): 15 Posts (UR-07, EWS-01, OBC(NCL)-03, SC-03, ST-01). One post is reserved for PwBD-(OH). Pay Level 11. Upper Age Limit: 32 years** (UR/EWS), 35 years (OBC), 37 years (SC).
- Scientist (S2502) [Posting at Mandapam Unit]: 1 Post (SC-1). Pay Level 11. Upper Age Limit: 37 years (SC).

Eligibility Details
Essential Educational Qualification (General for all Scientist posts):
- For S2501, S2502: Ph.D. (Science) submitted in the areas of Chemistry / Chemical Sciences or equivalent.
- For S2503: M.E/M.Tech in the areas of Chemical Engineering / Technology or equivalent.
- For S2504: M.E/M.Tech in the areas of Metallurgical / Material Science/ Engineering / Technology or equivalent OR M.E/M.Tech in specific areas mentioned (Electrometallurgy, Surface Engineering, Waste Valorization).
- For S2505: M.E/M.Tech in the areas of Thermal/Fluid Engineering or Mechanical Engineering (with specialization in Thermal/Fluid Engineering) or equivalent.
- For S2506: Ph.D (Science) submitted in the areas of Marine Biology / Marine Microbiology / Marine Sciences or equivalent.
Age Limit: Upper age limits vary by post code and category (UR, OBC, SC, ST). Maximum age limits are generally 32 years (UR), 35 years (OBC), and 37 years (SC/ST) as of the last date of application submission. Age relaxation is applicable for reserved categories as per Govt. of India rules.
Desirable Qualification and/or Experience: Includes Post-doctoral experience, industrial experience, publications in SCI Journals/Patents, and specific R&D experience matching the divisional requirements (e.g., Hydrogen Generation, Energy Storage, Specialty Chemicals, Corrosion, Water Treatment, CFD Simulation, etc.). Experience in Product Development/ Process Development/ Technology innovation/ Translational research is also desirable.
