Details of Position
The appointment is for an Isolated Category post governed by specific recruitment rules. The normal place of posting is CSIR-CMERI, Durgapur (West Bengal), but appointees may be posted to any CSIR Laboratory/Institute in India as per public interest.

Eligibility Details
Essential Qualification (EQ) and Experience:
- Ex-Servicemen (ESM): JCO (Subedar or higher rank) OR equivalent rank in other Para-military forces with a minimum of 10 years' experience in security.
- For Short Service Commissioned Officers and incumbents holding the position of Assistant Commandant in CRPF / BSF / ITBP etc. (carrying pre-revised pay scale of Rs. 8000-13500): A minimum of 05 years' experience is required.
- For Inspector from Para Military Forces: A minimum of 10 years' experience is required.
- All qualifications must be obtained through recognized Institutions.
- The post is unreserved and not suitable for PwD category.
Age Limit:
- Upper Age Limit: 35 years (as of 05.01.2026).
- Age relaxation is available as per Govt. of India rules for 'Ex-Servicemen'. SC/ST/OBC candidates applying against the UR vacancy are not eligible for age relaxation.
Job Requirements:
- Overall supervision and maintenance of day-to-day security arrangements for the Institute (premises, Colony Campuses, Guest House, Staff Quarters).
- Intelligence, vigilance, firefighting, and safety standards oversight.
- Round-the-clock vigil and regulation of movement of persons and goods.
- Liaisoning with local Police & other authorities and supervising outsourced security personnel.

Important Conditions
- Candidature is purely provisional until document verification.

- Selected candidates will be governed by the 'National Pension System' or extant Pension System adopted by CSIR.
- The decision of the Competent Authority regarding equivalency of qualifications shall be final.
Mode of Selection
Selection involves three stages, qualifying at each step:
- Physical Standard and Physical Test: Qualifying in nature. (Likely scheduled for February 2026 tentatively).
- Written Test: Only those qualifying the physical test will be called.
- Final Merit List: Prepared based on performance in Paper-II of the written test (subjective). Paper-I (Objective) has a 30% threshold, and Paper-II has a minimum threshold of 35% (to be fixed by the committee).
