Eligibility Details
For the post of Junior Hindi Translator (JHT-01):
- Essential Qualification & Experience:
- (1) Master's degree of a recognized university or equivalent in Hindi or English with English or Hindi as a compulsory or elective subject or as a medium of examination at the degree level; OR Master's degree in any subject other than Hindi or English, with Hindi or English medium and English or Hindi as a compulsory or elective subject or as a medium of examination at the degree level; OR Master's degree in any subject other than Hindi or English, with Hindi and English as compulsory or elective subjects of either or the two as the medium of examination and the other as a compulsory or elective subject at degree level; AND
- (2) Recognized Diploma or Certificate course in translation from Hindi to English & vice versa or two years' experience of translation work from Hindi to English and vice-versa in Central or State government offices, including Government of India undertaking.
- Desirable Qualification: Knowledge at the Matriculation level of a recognized Board or equivalent of languages other than Hindi mentioned in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution. Also, Degree or Diploma in translation from Hindi to English and vice-versa from a recognized University.
For the post of Junior Stenographer (JST-02):
- Essential Qualification: 10+2/XII or its equivalent and proficiency in stenography as per the prescribed norms fixed by DOPT from time to time.
- Desirable Qualification: Practical knowledge of computer operations with proficiency in MS Office applications like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
Age Relaxation: Age relaxation rules apply for SC/ST/OBC(NCL)/EWS/PwBD/Ex-Servicemen as per Government rules. Departmental candidates (CSIR Employees) for Junior Stenographer have no age limit if they possess prescribed qualifications. For JHT-01, age limit is relaxable up to 05 years for regular employees working in Council/Government Departments/Autonomous Bodies/Public Sector Undertakings.

Application Fee: ₹500/- (Rupees Five Hundred Only) payable through State Bank Collect (SB Collect). No fee is payable for SC/ ST/ PwBD/ Women/ Ex-Servicemen/ Regular CSIR Employees (subject to uploading relevant documents).

Important Conditions
- The crucial/cut-off date for determining age, qualifications, etc., is the last date for submission of online applications (13-11-2025).
- Candidature remains provisional until document verification. False claims regarding SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PwBD status will lead to termination.
- No travelling allowance will be paid for appearing in the tests.
- Selected candidates must be ready to serve anywhere under the administrative control of the Director, CSIR-IIIM, Jammu, and may be transferred across India.
- Selected candidates will be on a probation period of two years.
- Candidates are strongly advised to submit applications well in advance; the deadline will not be extended due to technical issues.
- No hard copy of the application form or documents needs to be sent to CSIR-IIIM; applications are accepted only online.
Mode of Selection
For Junior Hindi Translator (JHT-01):
- Competitive Written Examination (Screening Committee invites eligible candidates).
- Scheme: Two papers. Paper-I (OMR/Computer Based Objective MCQs, 1 Hour, 100 Questions, 300 Marks, Graduation Level, Negative Marking: -1 for wrong answer). Paper-II (Descriptive, 2 Hours, 300 Marks).
- Merit List Preparation: Based ONLY on marks obtained in Paper-II, after securing minimum threshold marks in Paper-I.
For Junior Stenographer (JST-02):
- Proficiency Test in Stenography (Qualifying nature; 80 w.p.m dictation for 10 minutes in English or Hindi).
- Open Competitive Written Examination (Screening Committee invites eligible candidates).
- Scheme: One paper (OMR/Computer Based Objective MCQs, 2 Hours/2 Hours 40 min for scribe, 200 Questions, 200 Marks, Class XII Standard, Negative Marking: -0.25 for wrong answer). Subjects: General Intelligence & Reasoning (50), General Awareness (50), English Language & Comprehension (100).
- Merit List Preparation: Based ONLY on marks obtained in the Competitive Written Examination, comprising only those candidates who qualify the Proficiency Test.
