    Details of Position

    The advertisement covers multiple positions across various departments for Assistant Professor Grade-I and Grade-II. Pay scales and requirements differ based on the grade applied for.

    Note on Location: IIT Ropar is located about 40 km (NW) from Chandigarh.

    Eligibility Details

    Assistant Professor Grade I

    • Education: Ph.D. with first class or equivalent at the preceding degree in the appropriate branch with a very good academic record throughout.
    • Experience: A minimum of three years post Ph.D. teaching / research / professional experience, excluding the experience gained while pursuing Ph.D. Candidate should have demonstrated research capabilities in terms of publications in reputed journals and conferences.
    • Promotion Criteria: On completion of 3 years of service as Assistant Professor Grade I with Academic Level 12, the candidate would be eligible for movement to Academic Level 13 (Basic Pay Rs.1,13,100/1,17,000) with a basic pay of Rs.1,31,400/- per month subject to satisfactory performance and on the recommendations of an Assessment Committee.

    Assistant Professor Grade II

    • Candidates satisfying all criteria other than the post PhD experience criteria for Assistant Professor Grade I may be appointed as Assistant Professor Grade II with appropriate entry based on post-doctoral experience.
    • Entry at Academic Level 10 (Basic Pay Rs.70,900/-) or Academic Level 11 (Basic Pay Rs.84,800/-) depending on experience.
    • Upon completion of minimum experience requirement and satisfactory performance in teaching and research and on the recommendations of an Assessment Committee, they may be moved to Assistant Professor Grade II Academic Level 12 or Assistant Professor Grade I, respectively.

    General Eligibility

    • Permanent faculty positions are open to Indian Nationals, Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) and Overseas Citizens of India (OCI).
    • Appointment of foreign nationals for fixed period not exceeding 5 years on contract basis is permissible.
    • Age criteria may apply as per policy.

    Important Conditions

    • The Institute reserves the right to restrict the number of candidates for interview to a reasonable limit based on qualifications and experience higher than the minimum prescribed.
