Period of deputation is ordinarily not exceeding 4 years.
Eligibility Details
Candidates must be:
- Officers of the Indian Administrative Service or Central Service Group 'A' eligible for appointment as Deputy Secretary to the Govt. of India.
- Essential Qualifications:
- Degree of a recognized university or equivalent.
- Sound knowledge of Hindi and one more of the following Indian languages against each Regional Officer:
- Delhi: Hindi
- Cuttack: Odiya
- Kolkata: Bengali
- Chennai: Tamil
- Hyderabad: Telugu
- Sound knowledge of Indian history and culture.
- 10 years' administrative or managerial experience in a responsible capacity.
Note: Qualifications are relaxable at the discretion of the Union Public Service Commission in case of candidates otherwise well qualified.
Application Details
Eligible officers must forward their applications in the prescribed proforma (Annexure-II) to the Under Secretary (Films), Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, 'A' Wing, Shastri Bhavan, New Delhi-110001.
Application Deadline: Within 60 days from the date of publication (i.e., by approximately 28th February 2026).
Required Documents to be forwarded along with application:
- Up-to-date APAR dossier for the last five years (attested by an officer not below the rank of Under Secretary or equivalent).
- Vigilance Clearance.
- Statement indicating whether any minor/major penalty was imposed or not during the last 10 years.
- Integrity Certificate.
- Cadre Clearance.
Important Conditions
- Officers who volunteer for the post will not be allowed to withdraw their candidature subsequently.
- The maximum age limit for candidates shall not exceed 56 years as on the closing date of receipt of applications.
- Terms and conditions regarding pay and tenure of deputation will be regulated by DoPT's O.M. No. 6/8/2009-Estt. (Pay II) dated 17.06.2010, as amended.
