Scale of Pay:
- Scientist- ‘E': Level-13 (Rs. 123100-215900 plus allowances)
- Scientist- ‘C': Level-11 (Rs. 67700-208700 plus allowances)

Eligibility Details
Scientist-E (Business Development)
- Essential: PhD in Biotechnology, Microbiology, Business Administration, or related field focusing on innovation management. Ten years R&D experience in the domain areas from Academic Institutions or Research/Industrial Establishments.
- Desirable: 3-5 years experience in intellectual property management, technology commercialization, or industry liaison; expertise in patent drafting, licensing, and business development in biotech/bioprocess sector; strong understanding of market analysis and revenue generation strategies.
Scientist-C (Bioenergy)
- Essential: PhD in Microbiology or Biochemical Engineering with a focus on bioenergy. Five years R&D experience in the domain areas from Academic Institutions or Research/Industrial Establishments.
- Desirable: 3-5 years post-doctoral or industrial experience in microbial process development/scale-up; expertise in optimizing bioreactors for biofuel production; experience in strain improvement using genetic engineering.
Scientist-B (Paleobiology)
- Essential: Master's Degree in Geology or equivalent. Three years R&D experience in Geology or equivalent from Academic Institutions or Research/Industrial Establishments.
- Desirable: PhD in a relevant area; Research experience in Palaeosciences; Experience in Mesozoic Mollusca (ammonoidea) and knowledge of other fossil groups.
Scientist-B (Bioinformatics)
- Essential: Master's degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Biotechnology, or related fields. Three years R&D experience in Bioinformatics/Computational Biology/Biotechnology from Academic Institutions or Research/Industrial Establishments.
- Desirable: PhD in Bioinformatics; expertise in NGS data analysis, transcriptomics, proteomics, or systems biology; proficiency in programming languages (Python, R) and bioinformatics tools (BLAST, DESeq2).
Age Limit: The upper age limit for direct recruitment shall not exceed 45 years (Scientist E), 40 years (Scientist C), or 35 years (Scientist B).
Note on Experience: The period spent obtaining a Doctorate degree or Post-Doctorate research (up to a maximum of two years each) may be counted towards experience, subject to documentation.

Important Conditions
- The Institute reserves the right to cancel the recruitment without assigning any reason.
- Selected candidates will be governed under NPS Rules.
- A probation period applies: Two years for Scientist-B, One year for Scientist-C & E, extendable at discretion.
- Outstation candidates called for interview will receive to and fro second class rail/sleeper class rail fare by the shortest route.
- Selected candidates are liable to serve anywhere in India and abroad.
Mode of Selection
Selection will be based on shortlisting criteria (which may include desirable qualifications/experience) followed by an interview. A reserve panel may be maintained for one year.
