Job Descriptions:
- Execution of land preparation and planning of experiments at the institute's farms and wherever the institute makes the facilities available.
- Conducting the trials of the All India Coordinated Research Project on soybean breeding.
- Conduct research trials on field crops as station trials and as consultancy services for product/ variety testing.
- Hybridisation or Introgression breeding to create genetic variability.
- Screening of advanced breeding lines (F2-F6) for the important traits to develop promising varieties.
- Sowing and maintenance of germplasm lines, nucleus seed and breeder seed.
- Recording observations, data typing, analysis and interpretation of results and report preparation.
- Writing research papers, scientific articles, research proposals and submissions for attracting funds.
- Technology dissemination on the soybean crop.
- Other duties assigned by the institute from time to time for the smooth working of the institute.
Key Skills:
- Knowledge of conducting field experimental trials under ICAR-AICRP coordinated projects for varietal evaluation and procedures like hybridisation, germplasm maintenance, Breeding material evaluation, etc., in soybean/legumes/field crops.
- Knowledge on Agricultural research experiment formulation, conduct, execution and interpretation.
- Ability to maintain pure seed and large-scale seed production.
- Seed production skills, seed sale and distribution, documentation, etc.
- Data collection and analysis of experiments using computer software.
- Experience in farm operations in rural areas and knowledge of the local language.
- Ability to liaisoning with state, central government institutes and departments, seed corporations, seed certification agencies, KVKs, FPOs, SHGs, etc.
Eligibility Details
Essential Qualifications:
- Master's degree with specialisation in Genetics & Plant Breeding in Agriculture or equivalent qualification from a recognised university.
Desirable Qualifications:
- PhD in any of the above subjects.
- Preference will be given to candidates having experience of working under the ICAR's AICRP Schemes/Projects of Field crops like Soybean/ Legumes, etc.
- 5 Years research experience in Plant Breeding work (both field and research laboratory) on crops like soybean/legumes/field crops, etc., as evidenced by varietal development and release, genetic stock development and registration.
Age Limit:
The upper age limit for direct recruits shall be 40 years (including age relaxation for ST category) as on the closing date of applications. Age relaxation for Government Servants and PwBD candidates applies as per Central Government orders.
