Eligibility Details
Essential Educational Qualifications & Experience (General)
Incumbents are expected to use existing scientific and/or technical knowledge/ methods/ techniques towards solution of technical problems and assist the scientist[s] for achieving the Organisational mandates.
For specific Post Codes, the minimum essential qualifications are:
- TA01 (Mechanical Engineering): Diploma in Mechanical Engineering of at least 3 years full time duration, with minimum 60% marks and experience of 02 years in relevant area/field OR Diploma in Mechanical Engineering of at least 02 years full time duration (lateral admission), with minimum 60% marks and 02 years experience.
- TA02 (Electronics/Electrical & Electronics/Communication/Instrumentation Engineering): Diploma in relevant Engineering branch of at least 3 years full time duration, with minimum 60% marks and experience of 02 years in relevant area/field OR 02 years full time duration (lateral admission) with minimum 60% marks and 02 years experience.
- TA03 (Civil Engineering): Diploma in Civil Engineering of at least 3 years full time duration, with minimum 60% marks and experience of 02 years in relevant area/field OR 02 years full time duration (lateral admission) with minimum 60% marks and 02 years experience.
- TA04 (Computer Science/ Information Technology): Diploma in Computer Science/ Information Technology of at least 3 years full time duration, with minimum 60% marks and experience of 02 years in relevant area/field OR 02 years full time duration (lateral admission) with minimum 60% marks and 02 years experience. OR B.Sc. (Computer Science / Information Technology) or equivalent, with minimum 60% marks and one year experience in the relevant discipline.
- TA05 (Physics / Applied Physics): B.Sc. (Physics/Applied Physics) or equivalent, with 60% marks and one year experience in the relevant discipline.
- TA06 (Chemistry): B.Sc. (Chemistry) or equivalent, with 60% marks and one year experience in the relevant discipline.
Note: Wherever a specific area or discipline or subject is mentioned, it must be a main/core subject in B.Sc.
Age Criteria
- The upper age limit for all posts is generally 28 Years (as on 27.02.2026).
- Age relaxation for SC/ST is 5 years, OBC(NCL) is 3 years, applicable only for reserved posts.
- PwBD candidates are eligible for age relaxation as per GOI instructions (Total 15 years for SC/ST, 13 years for OBC).
- Government Employees working in CSIR/Govt. are eligible for age relaxation up to 5 years.
- Ex-Servicemen (EXS) candidates are relaxable by 03 years after deducting military service.

- Hard Copy Submission Deadline: The printout of the online application, duly signed, along with self-attested mandatory documents must reach CSIR-NPL on or before 09.03.2026.
- Application Fee: Rs. 500/- (Non-refundable), payable online (link active from 28.01.2026, 03:00 P.M onwards). SC/ST/PwBD/Women/Ex-Servicemen are exempted from the fee.

- The final merit list will be based on performance in Paper-II & III of the competitive written examination, after qualifying Trade Test and Paper-I.
