    The National Centre for Earth Science Studies (NCESS), an autonomous research Centre under the Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES), Government of India, located in Thiruvananthapuram, invites applications from eligible Indian citizens for filling up 03 posts of Scientist B (Group A) and 01 post of Scientist D (Group A) on a regular basis.     Eligibility Details

    Scientist B (Post Codes 01, 02, 03)

    • Essential Qualification: Master's Degree in Geology or equivalent (for Post 01 & 02) or Master's Degree in Geophysics or equivalent (for Post 03) with at least 60% marks from a recognised University.
    • Desirable Qualification: Doctoral Degree with relevant research experience/specialisation and publications in peer-reviewed journals (specific fields vary by Post Code).
    • Age Limit (UR): Not exceeding 35 years (Post 01 & 02); Not exceeding 38 years (inclusive of 3 years relaxation for OBC) (Post 03).

    Scientist D (Post Code 04)

    • Essential Qualification: Master's Degree in Geology / Marine Geology or equivalent from a recognised University AND Seven years' experience in research and development in Industrial or Academic Institutions or Science and Technology Organisation, or scientific activities and services.
    • Desirable Qualification: Doctoral Degree with relevant research experience/specialisation or experience in policy making/planning/management.
    • Age Limit (UR): Not exceeding 50 years.

    General Age Criteria

    • The crucial date for determination of essential qualification and age limit will be the date of closure of application.
    • Age relaxation is applicable for OBC, disabled, ex-servicemen, and Kashmiri Migrants as per Government of India norms.
    • The upper age limit may be relaxed for highly experienced candidates in specialized scientific areas by the Secretary, MoES / Chairman, NCESS Governing Council.

    Method: Applications must be submitted online only via the NCESS website (http//www.ncess.gov.in).

    Required Documents (to be uploaded as scanned images): Photograph (.jpg, <100 KB), Signature (.jpg, <100 KB), Mark sheets (all semesters, .pdf, <300 KB), Provisional/Degree certificate, Proof of date of birth, Experience certificate, and Caste certificate (if applicable, attested translation required if not in English). Original certificates must be produced at the time of interview.

    Note: Candidates currently employed in Central/State Government organizations must upload a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their present employer; the original NOC is required at the time of interview.

    Important Conditions

    • Posts carry allowances and benefits as applicable to identical status employees in Government of India.
    • Candidates must maintain a valid e-mail ID and mobile number throughout the recruitment process.
    • Mere possession of essential qualifications does not entitle candidates to be called for test/interview.
    • Canvassing in any form will lead to disqualification.
    • Selected candidates are liable to serve anywhere in India and carry out research tasks assigned by the Director/Institute.

    Mode of Selection

    Shortlisted candidates may be called for a written test, direct Interview, or a test followed by an interview, as decided by NCESS. Screening may be based on essential/desirable qualifications, academic performance, and relevant experience if the number of applications is large.
