CSIR-IITR is a multidisciplinary research institute dedicated to addressing critical problems related to human health and the environment. Eligibility Details
For Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS):
- Essential Qualifications: Matriculation or equivalent pass.
For Driver:
- Essential Qualifications:
- Possession of a valid driving license for LMV & HMV.
- Knowledge of motor mechanism (The candidate should be able to remove minor defects in vehicle).
- Experience of driving a motor car for at least 3 years.
- Having passed 10th standard.
- Desirable Qualification: Candidates having experience of driving both LMV & HMV will be preferred.
- Experience Criteria (Driver): Experience of driving a motor car for at least 3 years from a Ministry / Department / Organization / Public Sector Undertaking / Autonomous Body under Government of India / State / UT or from any other registered Private Institution/Firm/Organization, supported by a proper certificate.
General Age Criteria (as on 19.02.2026):
- Minimum Age: 18 Years
- Upper Age Limit: 25 Years (for MTS) and 27 Years (for Driver), relaxable as per extant rules.
- Age Relaxation: SC/ST: +5 years; OBC (NCL): +3 years; PwBD (MTS only): +10 years (Total 15 years for SC/ST, 13 years for OBC). Age relaxation for Widows/Divorced Women is up to 35 years (or 40 years for SC/ST).
Job Requirements / Nature of Job
- Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS): Includes physical maintenance of records, general cleanliness/dusting, photocopying, handling dak, assisting in R&D activities, preparation/supply of tea/coffee/snacks, maintenance of gardens/green spaces, and other assigned work, potentially in shift duties.
- Driver: Driving LMV/HMV safely, vehicle maintenance/cleanliness, scheduling repairs, managing logbooks, and liaising for vehicle-related paperwork (Fast-tag, Insurance renewal).

Important Conditions

Mode of Selection
Selection involves multiple stages which vary by post:
- For MTS: Shortlisting by Scrutiny Committee $\rightarrow$ Trade Test (Qualifying) $\rightarrow$ Competitive Written Examination (CWE). Final merit based on CWE marks.
- For Driver: Shortlisting by Scrutiny Committee $\rightarrow$ Skill Test (Qualifying) $\rightarrow$ Competitive Written Examination (CWE). Final merit based on CWE marks.
Note on CWE Syllabus: The test is OMR Based Objective Type MCQs (Class 10 Standard). MTS CWE has 150 Qs (2 hrs); Driver CWE has 100 Qs (90 mins). Sections include General Intelligence, Quantitative Aptitude, General Awareness, and English Language, with negative marking (1 mark for wrong answer).
