    Details of Position

    The recruitment is for the post of Multi Tasking Staff across various technical trades. Pay Scale is Level-1 (Rs. 18,000-56,900/- PM, Total Emoluments approx. Rs. 36,000/- PM).

    • Post Code M 01 (14 Vacancies): 10th/Matriculation or its equivalent pass. (Includes roles like physical maintenance, general cleanliness, watch & ward duties, driving vehicles if licensed, etc.)
    • Post Code M 02 (02 Vacancies): ITI pass in Electrician Trade. (Involves installation, maintenance, and repairing of electrical machinery and fittings.)
    • Post Code M 03 (01 Vacancy): ITI pass in Carpenter Trade. (Involves construction, repair, restoration of structures like floors, doors, windows, furniture.)
    • Post Code M 04 (01 Vacancy): ITI pass in Fitter Trade. (Involves general fitting work like cutting and threading ferrous or non-ferrous materials.)
    • Post Code M 05 (01 Vacancy): ITI pass in Plumber Trade. (Involves laying, assembly, installation, and maintenance of sanitary fittings, sewage/drainage systems, gas/water pipelines.)
    • Post Code M 06 (01 Vacancy): ITI pass in Air Condition (AC) & Refrigeration Trade. (Involves repair & operation of AC and refrigeration systems.)
    • Post Code M 07 (02 Vacancies): ITI pass in Computer Operator and Programming Assistant (COPA) Trade. (Involves entering commands, monitoring computer equipment, responding to errors, operating software, and handling data reports.)

    Eligibility Details

    Essential Qualifications: Qualifications vary by Post Code as detailed in the 'Details of Position' section, ranging from 10th/Matriculation pass to specific ITI trades (Electrician, Carpenter, Fitter, Plumber, AC & Refrigeration, COPA).

    Age Limit: 18-25 years as of the closing date, subject to applicable age relaxations for reserved categories (SC/ST up to 5 years, OBC(NCL) up to 3 years, PwBD, Ex-Servicemen).

    Age criteria may apply as per policy.

    Application Details

    Last Date: 06.02.2026 (upto 17:00 hours IST).

    Application Method: Online only through the CSIR-NML website.

    Application Fee: Rs. 500/- (Five Hundred only), payable via SBI Collect. SC/ST/PwBD/Women/CSIR Employees/eligible ESM categories are exempted from fee payment.

    Required Documents for Upload: 10th/Matriculation certificate & marks sheet, ITI pass certificate & marks sheet (if applicable), Exam fee payment receipt (if applicable), Caste/Category Certificate (if reserved), PwBD Certificate (if applicable), Ex-Servicemen documents (if applicable), self-declaration stating non-Creamy Layer status (for OBC), EWS Income & Asset Certificate (if applicable), and a handwritten declaration.

    Important Conditions

    • Candidates must apply online only via https://nml.res.in.
    • Only one application per Post Code is allowed. Separate applications required for different Post Codes.
    • The selection will be based on a Competitive Written Examination (Computer Based Objective Type Multiple Choice Exam in English/Hindi, Class Xth standard).
    • The exam has four parts: General Intelligence (25 Q, 75 Marks), Quantitative Aptitude (25 Q, 75 Marks), General Awareness (50 Q, 150 Marks), and English Language (50 Q, 150 Marks). Total 150 Questions, 450 Marks. Negative marking: One negative mark for every wrong answer.
    • The final merit list will be based on the performance in the Competitive Written Examination.
    • The normal place of posting is CSIR-NML, Jamshedpur, but appointees can be posted to any CSIR Lab/Centre/Field Centre in India.
    • Selected candidates will be on probation for two years.
    • Canvassing in any form will lead to disqualification.
