    Details of Position

    Name of the Post No. of positions Consolidated Pay Tenure
    Visiting Student Counsellor 01 (One) only Rs. 16,000/- per month for 04 (four) monthly visits (weekly once with four hours duration). Additional visits: Rs. 1000/- per hour. Initially for 01 (one) year, extendable upon satisfactory performance at the sole discretion of NIPER- Kolkata.

    Leaves: As the engagement is on a visit basis, therefore no leaves are entitled/eligible to the individual selected as Visiting Student Counsellor.

    Eligibility Details

    Essential Qualification

    • Bachelor's Degree in Psychology with minimum 60% marks from a recognised University AND relevant experience of five years after the qualifying degree, out of which three years should be student counselling experience in a higher educational institution.
    • OR
    • Master's Degree in Psychology with minimum 60% marks from a recognised University AND relevant experience of three years after the qualifying degree, out of which minimum one year should be student counselling experience in a higher educational institution.

    Desirable Qualification

    • License holder of Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI).
    • Ph.D in Psychology.

    Job Description Responsibilities

    • The counsellor would render counselling service to all bonafide students as required and be available to staff and faculty of NIPER-Kolkata during working hours and days.
    • Act as the point of contact for students requiring interpersonal/ emotional counselling.
    • Comfortable working with students from a variety of socio-economic backgrounds.
    • Possess excellent communication skills in Bengali, Hindi, and English.
    • Maintain confidentiality but report to Dean, NIPER- Kolkata for extreme cases demanding Institute/ family intervention (Related to students).
    • Proper coordination with the Institute Medical Officer for rendering counselling.
    • Provide tele-consultation as and when required with students and staff.
    • Conduct workshops, talks, and group discussions to help students with academic, interpersonal, and emotional needs.
    • Conduct separate orientation sessions for students as well as Teaching and Non-Teaching staff once a year at the beginning of the Academic Session.
    • Maintain a database of the mental well-being of students utilizing counselling services.

    • Experience may be relaxed in exceptionally meritorious cases based on the Screening/Selection Committee recommendation.
