    Eligibility Details

    Essential Qualifications:

    • Doctorate (Ph.D.) in any branch of science, especially Physics, Chemistry, or Mathematics.

    Essential Experience (For Direct Recruitment):

    • At least 25 years of research experience in industrial and academic institutions and/or Science and Technology organizations or as faculty/scientist of recognized national/international universities/research institutes/corporate R&D Labs etc.
    • Out of the 25 years, at least 6 years should be in a senior position managing a research group, chairing Committees outside the Institute, or in managerial/administrative capacity for science & technology programmes, planning and development, budget & finance, coordination, and such organizational matters.
    • R&D experience in any branch of science, especially Physics, Chemistry, or Mathematics.

    Essential Experience (For Deputation/ Contract):

    Scientists or Technologists working in the Central/State Governments/Universities/Recognized Research Institutions/Semi-Government, Statutory, or Autonomous Organizations in India, possessing:

    • (a) (i) holding an analogous post; OR
    • (ii) with 1 year regular service in Pay Level 16 (7th CPC) or equivalent; OR
    • (iii) 3 years regular service in Pay Level 15 (7th CPC) or equivalent; OR
    • (iv) 7 years regular service in Pay Level 14 (7th CPC) or equivalent; AND
    • (b) Possessing the essential educational qualifications mentioned in Para ‘H' and essential experience in Para ‘I' above.

    Desirable Qualifications:

    • Post-doctoral research.
    • Original published work of high standard.
    • Evidence of high professional eminence by way of recognitions like fellowships of academies, national/ international awards in science, etc.
    • Experience in the management of major research projects.

    Job Description Summary:

    The Director will have overall administrative control, provide high-level leadership for identifying national and international research programmes, motivate scientists, promote excellence, and establish rapport with national and international academic and professional institutions, ensuring multidisciplinary cooperation.
