Eligibility Details
Essential Qualification/Experience:
- Essential: Ph.D in Physics/Astronomy and Astrophysics/Space Science and/or in a relevant field. A minimum of fourteen years' post-doctoral experience.
- Desirable: Demonstrated leadership and broad vision in the field of Astronomy and Astrophysics. Experience and expertise to lead major initiatives and capacity building, particularly in space science research. Evidence of high professional eminence by way of recognitions like fellowships of academies and/or national/international awards in science and technology.
- Upper Age Limit: 55 years as on and/or last date of application.
Method of Selection
Selection will be done through a Search-cum-selection Committee. The Committee may also consider applications/nominations received from Fellows of the Academies, Directors of National Laboratories, and Vice Chancellors of Universities, or invite a person of high repute.

- An advance copy of the application in the prescribed proforma must be neatly typed and sent as a PDF file (along with scanned self-attested photocopies of supporting certificates) via email to: ea-director@rri.res.in. - A hard copy (print out of the PDF file sent via email), duly signed, along with duly self-attested photocopies of enclosures, must be sent by SPEED POST, or equivalent, to the "Scientific Research Programs Manager and Executive Assistant to Director, Raman Research Institute, C. V. Raman Avenue, Sadashivanagar, Bengaluru - 560080, India". The cover must be super scribed as "Application for the position of Senior Professor".
Important Conditions
- The candidate must be a citizen of India.
- The appointment is on a regular basis with a probation period of one year.
- Employees appointed on or after 01.01.2004 are covered under the New Pension Scheme (NPS).
- Candidates working in Government / PSU / Autonomous Bodies should obtain NOC, but applications without NOC will be considered if a signed undertaking is uploaded promising submission at verification time.
